Can your body start changing even without dropping pounds?
Since about a week ago, I started working out much more than usual (I used to never exercise haha), and even though my actual weight hasn't really gone down, I feel like I've kind of slimmed down a bit in areas like my stomach and such. Is that even possible? It's weird that my weight hasn't changed...maybe am I just imagining the slimming down, or is it really possible? Thanks.
(If it matters, I've been doing a combination of aerobic video cardio and strength training)
Hmm...I did consider the possibility of gaining muscle but I didn't think it would happen so quickly!
Yes it does matter and yes it is possible. Strength training is the most effective way to increase muscle mass and also increase your muscular strength. Muscle is heavier that fat and therefore is more than likely the reason your scales haven't changed but your clothes are fitting a little better.
The positive side of this is not only will this increase your muscular definition/tone but an increase in muscle also increases your resting metabolism (the amount of energy burnt doing nothing). This is a great way to help you lose fat and even better unless your eating massive amounts of calories and training like a body builder you won't get so big that you look like a brick house. i.e. the amount of muscle you are putting on will not continue at this rate it will slow down a bit as your body gets used to the training.
Hope this helps.

Increase your speed once you're comfortable at an easy pace
Once you're comfortable walking about 4 miles at 15 to 20 minutes a mile, it's time for a new challenge.
